Cost Calculator
Job description
The Cost Calculator works without supervision on all aspects of cost budgeting and optimization. This involves drawing up tenders, transferring knowledge and supporting project teams during work planning, execution and retrospective costing.
Responsibilities:
- Cost calculations and budgets for projects based on specification documents and other information;
- Providing support during the preparation and submission of tenders and maintaining calculation or budget files and databases;
- Auditing and determining quantities, working methods and equipment for deployment;
- Requesting and assessing prices from sub-contractors, suppliers and hired services;
- For the purposes of retrospective costing, arranging feedback from project managers about purchased services and products during and after project execution;
- Determining cost prices in consultation with the project manager (on the basis of, for example, cost standards) and determining and recording risks;
- Devising and elaborating alternatives;
- Visiting projects to evaluate working methods and determine anomalies (retrospective costing).
Skills, knowledge and experience
- A university qualification, or equivalent education and ability (constructive hydraulic engineering).
- Professional training such as Advanced Operational Dredging Training (VOUB) and at least 5 years of practical experience in the area of dredging, coastal and riverbank projects, concrete and hydraulic engineering and dry earthmoving.
- Ability to interpret and process large amounts of data in a short time.
- Ability to operate convincingly, both on your own and in a team.
- Understanding of the way different parts of the organization work together in the field of systems, products and equipment.
- Sound language skills in both written and spoken English are required.
- Willingness to work abroad for short periods.

The Cost Calculation department is housed at the head office in Papendrecht. This department concentrates mainly on budgeting and cost optimization during the tender phase but also during the work planning and execution phases, supporting the project teams on the works where necessary.
"Design and Construct" contracts are being used for more and more projects. That means that Boskalis is responsible for both the design and the execution of wet infrastructure projects. We are looking for a Cost Calculator with a focus on constructive hydraulic engineering who wants a broader view and new challenges.
