Bucket dredgers use buckets to scoop material from the bed and haul it up to the surface. The buckets are attached to a chain and graded according to size (200 to 1,000 litres). Buckets dredgers are held in place by anchors during operation. Nowadays these classic vessels are mainly used on environmental dredging projects.
