KNRM sponsorship project

Boskalis’ support for the Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution, the KNRM, is centred on the new rescue station in Dordrecht. The station’s main operating area comprises the Hollandsch Diep and Haringvliet estuaries, the nearby rivers and the Biesbosch nature reserve: precisely the region where Boskalis has its roots.

The work of the KNRM has many things in common with Boskalis. Both organizations bear the designation 'Royal', and both deliver their services at sea and in inland waters. Concepts such as independence, teamwork, social commitment, professionalism and reliability are characteristic of both parties. Like Boskalis, the KNRM is innovative and accustomed to testing it limits.

The KNRM gives priority to training programs and exercises which provide invaluable expertise for a maritime company such as Boskalis.

The rescue station used Boskalis’ contribution to purchase a new rescue boat. The boat has been named the 'KBW 1910'  - with KBW standing for ‘Koninklijke (Royal) Boskalis Westminster’ and 1910 being the year the company was founded. The naming ceremony was held on 29 August 2009.
